Departure
We will leave for the heritage town of Gort by luxury coach with our on
board tour guide from our agreed pick up point. Our mid-morning break
will be at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel in Athlone, for tea / coffee and
scones.

Coole Park
Coole Park , near Gort , Co. Galway was once the home of Lady Augusta
Gregory. Her associations with great writers, such as W.B.Yeats, Sean O
Casey and George Bernard Shaw are immortalised in the carvings of
their initials on the ‘Autograph Tree’ which you will be guided to in a
lovely walled garden. Though the actual house does not survive, you will
have a pleasant time as you stroll the woodland paths, before enjoying
refreshments in the lovely restaurant.

Kiltartan Museum
A building which was a National School and which was built in 1892 at
the behest of the local landlord, Sir William Gregory of Coole Park, is now
the Kiltartan Gregory Museum. This is a friendly place and the guides
are dedicated experts on Yeats, Lady Gregory and Coole Park. The award
winning museum houses memorabilia, manuscripts and artefacts from
Coole. An early Irish classroom, also in the building, will transport you
back to your school days!

Evening Meal
Our evening meal will be enjoyed at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel Athlone,
and will be followed by some lively entertainment prior to departing for
your drop off point.
